5 Prayer Resources for China

As we all know, there is much to pray about when it comes to China and churches in China, but sometimes it’s hard to know specifically how to prayer. While there are many resources to help people in their desire to pray, I want to highlight five in this post.

1. Pray for China: A Walk Through History

Each day, this site posts a snippet about a key historical event or figure in Chinese history, along with specific requests, and a Bible verse that you can use as the foundation of your prayer. Here is the September 28 post, as an example:

The birthday of Confucius (孔夫子) is celebrated on Sept. 28. Because Confucius (551-479 B.C.) lived in a time of political chaos, his teaching primarily focused on statecraft, e.g. that government is a matter of ethics not raw power. However, he also described the true relationship between God and man in these words from his Analects: “He who offends against Heaven [God] has none to whom he can pray,” and “Heaven [God] produced the virtue that is in me.” Pray for Christians to be constantly awed by the wonderful grace of God in saving us through Christ Jesus. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus . . . Romans 3:24

2. China Partnership

China Partnership has a section on their site dedicated to helping believers worldwide pray for ministries in Chinese churches. You can sign up to receive weekly prayer emails and daily prayer texts. This year, they have also been focusing prayer each month on specific ministries in China, such as women’s ministry, gospel renewal, theological education, and church planting.

3. Prayercast

According to their mission statement, “Prayercast exists to activate victorious, world-changing prayer and worship through mass media and the arts to advance the gospel to the masses.” Their site is a treasure-trove of resources to encourage and facilitate prayer, not just for China but for the nations. They have produced video prayer guides for over 200 countries, including China. The China prayer page includes a video, a list of prayer points, as well as background information on the country.

4. Operation World

Operation World has lots of resources for those wanting to pray for China, segmented by regions and with information about the country. They also have an app in English and German with more information and ways to connect with others praying for China.

5. GCM

I recently learned about a prayer-focused email called GCM. It is an independently produced resource distributed ten times per year on Mailchimp. It includes a topical article and prayer fuel for the month. Go here to subscribe to the email, which is available in English, simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese.

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. Psalm 86.9
